Decanter
Juicy, supple, delicate and refined with a lovely texture and acidity that grips the mouth and says 'drink me'. Crystalline cool blue fruit, pure and well defined, this is pulsing with life, vibrant and present. Powerful and filling with a generous core, playful and friendly but complex and concentrated too. Confident with bite and appealing chalkiness at the finish. Clean and pure, so easy to enjoy still with structure and balance and a salty stone minerality on the finish. In organic conversion. Yield of 45hl/ha.
Falstaff
Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections. delicate edge brightening. Inviting cherry fruit, fine precious wood spice, orange zest, mineral touch. Juicy, ripe heart cherries on the palate, good freshness, shows tension and length, animating style.
Jane Anson
Dark damson colour, beautiful sense of upliflt and freshness, with mint leaf, sage, wild rosemary, cassis fruits. Slate texture to the wine here, feels carved out and crafted, with edges of austerity that constrict the cassis and raspberry fruit. 44% new oak, 8 amphoras (around 10% of overall), the rest in one year old barrel, 45hl/h yield. Great stuff.

The 2022 Berliquet, 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc with a yield of 45 hl/ha, is aging in 44% new oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple in color, it flies out of the glass with notes of lilacs, red roses, and Sichuan pepper, leading to a core of redcurrant jelly, black raspberries, and wild blueberries plus a waft of truffles. The full-bodied palate is rich and opulent, with loads of bright red berry sparks and a lively backbone, finishing on a lingering mineral note. pH 3.55.
The Vintage Journal
Medium deep crimson. Lovely red cherry red plum, minerally leafy aromas with underlying vanilla/ aniseed notes. Roasted walnut red plum, cedar flavours, fine chocolaty feruginous tannins and mocha cacao notes. Brusque and exuberant. 65% Merlot 35% Cabernet Franc 44% new oak with a proportion in amphorae. 14.5% alc

The 2022 Berliquet is brilliant, bursting with aromas of plums, wild berries and lilac, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant palate that's deep and mineral. It's likely to be another of the vintage's more attractive en primeur proportions. This estate just goes from strength to strength—and that's before its new winery has been constructed! One of the most significant changes has been opting to retain higher canopies, which means that the fruiting zone of rows planted along the slope are now shaded, preserving freshness.
Vinous
The 2022 Berliquet was picked from 29 August to 14 September and matured in 44% new oak. The wood is a little more prominent on the nose than the Canon, with black cherries, bilberry and light oyster shell scents. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins. This is a juicy Berliquet that probably belies the structure underneath. There's more red fruit toward the finish, with a touch of pepper on the aftertaste.

Flowers, crushed stones, espresso, and red pit fruits create the nose. On the palate, the wine is expressive, silky, long, and deep, with intensity, purity and elegance, finishing with salty-chocolate, black, red and white cherries, plums and a dash of cocoa. The wine leaves you with refined, soft, polished edge in the finish. The wine blends 65% Merlot with 35% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV, 3.55 pH. Drink from 2026-2048.

Lots of dark and crushed stones with blackberries and black olives. Dark earth. Full-bodied and more concentrated with very intense fruit and chewy tannins. Velvety and slightly rough, but all there.
VV Wine
Very floral, with violets and ripe fruits, some Grand Marnier, citrus aromas, herbs. In the beginning full-bodied, rich, round, the wine has a lot of body, shows a ripe, full fruit, the tannins are also of the highest quality, very nice balance and in the finish with a red fruity finale. The wine is vinified by the same team as Château Canon and this team has managed to kiss Berliquet awake from its slumber. Big compliment and yes - buying tip ;)

In Château Berliquet 2022, I caught a glimpse of Château Canon 2022 in its shadow. The rich clay imbues the wine with a profound structure that beautifully complements the limestone's innate salinity. Swirling the glass, the aromas of sour plum and juicy yellow plum fill the air, wiping away any trace of the dryness characteristic of the 2022 vintage. In 2020, I described Château Berliquet as a "wild horse in captivity." Now, after two years of cultivating, it has found its rhythm and transformed into "a magnificent stallion parading in dressage". Château Berliquet has a bright and promising future.
The Drinks Business
(St Emilion; 65% Merlot; 35% Cabernet Franc; pH 3.55; 14.5% alcohol; tasted at the UGC press tasting and then at Canon; in organic conversion as at Canon; aging for 16 months in oak, 44% of which is new). With cool, plunge-pool refinement, this is exquisite and the best I’ve tasted from this property now on a rapid ascent towards the stars. Very floral, but more lilac and violet to the peonies of Canon (tasted alongside). Subtle hints of cedar supports the perfectly plump, juice-filled, pulpy berry fruit, with black cherry and blackcurrant and then the floral elements (lilac and violet) adding to the layered complexity. This feels cooler still and even fresher than Canon, though the fruit is just a shade lighter in hue. Gorgeous and profound. So softly textured with diaphanous calcaire tannins so wondrously outlining, like a draftsman, the structure of this glorious wine. There is fabulous freshness on the finish. This comes close to Canon now in quality and it’s really more a question of the fruit profile one prefers. 95-97+.

Candied cherries, tapenade, violets, and floral notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Berliquet, a medium to full-bodied, seamless Saint-Emilion that brings plenty of ripeness while staying nicely balanced, light on its feet, and elegant. Based on 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, from yields of 31.2 hectoliter per hectare, it will spend 16 months in 44% new French oak, with a portion of the blend aged in amphora. This isn't the most powerful or opulent wine in the vintage, but it's as seamless and graceful as they come.
